Situated on 23 acres of rolling Kwazulu-Natal Midlands grassland, against the stunning backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountains, King's is uniquely placed to provide a hands-on and exciting approach to learning.
King’s caters for day scholars, boarders and weekly boarders. Two teas and a delicious lunch are provided to all scholars daily.
The school grounds have well maintained sports fields as well as a wide variety of shady trees, a dam and a natural spring system. An Outdoor Classroom with a range of alternative building techniques including a cob pizza oven and energy efficient rocket stoves as well as a small organic garden gives the children opportunities to learn practical hands-on skills involving growing food, harvesting and cooking. Many of the Natural Science & Technology lessons take place outside and experiments are useful and memorable. Ecological understanding leads to responsibility and King’s School encourages children to explore, be curious and adventurous in the physical natural world. The school also has a classical Amphitheatre used for assemblies, visiting theatre groups and the annual Shakespeare production.
King’s also offers a wide range of extramural activities, including sports and specialized clubs, to supplement the formal education in the classrooms.
